Tryouts will be held June 18-19-20, 2010 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. During that weekend, Sault Ste Marie will become a haven for players who have set their sights set on playing a higher level of hockey. This is the weekend the Indians will hold tryouts to help determine its players for the upcoming season.
Coach Rick Corbiere explains, "Every year our tryout camp gets larger and every year we get a better selection of players to choose from. We're going to lose many players from this year's team and most of those that are leaving will still be playing hockey at a higher level. There are going to be many positions available to new players."
Corbiere added that he suggests prospective players get their
Player Profile into the team staff as soon as they possible can. Team management has been in contact with scouts throughout the country looking for high caliber players to compliment the team.
The team is also based out of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, which is home to 3-time NCAA Division 1 college hockey champions, LSSU Lakers. It's not uncommon to look up from the ice during practice and see a scout from the highest levels of hockey watching the Midget AAA team practice!
The team is also located on the border of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, which is home to the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League.
Lodging is available at the
Kewadin Hotel of Sault Ste Marie. They are offering reduced rates of $60 per night for tryouts. You must inform them you are with the tryouts and request the special rate for the Soo Indians Midget AAA tryouts.
Registration fee is $150 and it will include a jersey, one practice and three scrimmage sessions. Tryout space is limited so it is advised that you submit your Player Profile and registration fee as soon as possible to secure your place in the tryouts.
All tryout candidates must complete a Player Profile. In addition, if you are under 18 years of age, you must complete a USA Hockey Consent to Treat form. Without this form, you will not be allowed on the ice.All candidates should read the Prospective Player Letter from the Head Coach.
Players who have been selected to the team will be required to make a non-refundable $500 deposit to secure your position on the team.This deposit is due on selection day (last day of tryouts). The $500 will be deducted from your team fees.
